When you throw a projectile at an angle, instead of making a curved line, it (unsurprisingly) makes an arc. The arc that it makes, however, changes depending on the exact angle that it is thrown at. If you throw it at a bigger angle, the projectile will go higher in the air, but won't travel as far, and vise versa.

Pokémon is a game series that has been around for quite awhile, and nearly everyone has played it at some point or another. One of the main mechanics of the game is catching pokémon- and to do this, you have to weaken it, and then throw a pokéball at it. The ball is always thrown at the same angle (which can be assumed to be somewhere between 35 and 45 degrees, based on character animations), and thus, always hits its mark.
